Day 25: 31 Days of Horror: Child's Play (1988)

Child's Play should never ever be shown to a child! To say that this movie scared me when I was a kid is an understatement. It petrified me! I think it has also led to my weariness around anyone who's hair is of the same coloring as Chucky's. I'm not even kidding. That's why I can't watch Reba, Kathy Griffin, or Carrot Top. I'm sure they're very nice people and possibly funny, but their hair color frightens me. It's silly, I know, but I can't get over it! I also have a hard time sleeping in a room that has a doll in it. Mainly because many dolls do not have eyes that close and they are ALWAYS smiling. It's creepy!

Chucky is a doll that has been possessed by the soul of a serial killer, Charles Lee Ray. Charles performed some dark magic in order to transfer his soul into the doll before his human body was killed. Soon after, the Chucky doll containing Charles' evil soul is purchased and given to a young boy, Andy Barclay. Andy loves the doll at first and is always talking to him. However, it soon becomes apparent to Andy that Chucky isn't very nice and is responsible for many evil things. Will others believe little Andy that the doll is evil or will they think he's playing some sort of childish game? Watch to find out.

Child's Play is by no means the perfect horror movie. It's far from it, actually. It is decent though and it is full of jumpy and scary scenes.

Love Childs Play! It and the sequel are some gruesome nasty fun.

3, 4, and 5, not so much. CP is one of the few horror films I would like to see remade, however.

Hi Robert, I have not yet watched the second one! I'm sure I'll get around to it one of these days.

Sorry to post it here, but I didn't see an email address anywhere. Just noticed that I am still on your blogroll, but at my old address. I have moved I Shoot The Pictures to ishootthepictures.com

Thanks Kalli!
