Day 4: 31 Days of Horror: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

Willy Wonka, he seems like a pretty harmless guy, doesn't he? He makes delicious chocolate and other candy for all to enjoy, which is fantastic if you're a big fan of candy. He actually seems like he's pretty awesome. It's pretty cool that he hid 5 golden tickets in his candy bars in order to give 5 lucky winners the chance of a lifetime to go and see how he prepares all the amazing candy that everyone loves so much. That must mean that he's definitely harmless and just loves making people happy!

Wrong! Willy Wonka is a psychopath. Sure, he loves candy, chocolate, and the little Oompa Loompas. However, he loves playing mind-games and sinister tricks on children and adults even more. The boat scene through the creepy tunnel of doom proves how big of a creep Wonka is. That's one boat ride I'm thankful I wasn't stuck on!

Despite Willy Wonka being a psycho, I still love him and the movie. Be warned though, some people are extremely frightened by him and his Oompa Loompas. I guess it is pretty disturbing when Augustus Gloop almost drowns in a lake of chocolate and is brutally sucked into a pipe that is much too small for his body to fit through easily. I suppose it's even more terrifying when Violet Beauregarde is turned into a humongous blueberry and pushed around by a group of singing little orange guys with large green hair...
